The program of the Conference on the Circular Economy organized by E.S.D.A.K.
The Unified Association of Waste Management of Crete (E.S.D.A.K.) is organizing a Conference on "Regional Planning of Solid Waste Management - Path to a Circular Economy"
on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 March 2018, at the Cultural Conference Center of Municipality of Heraklion.
The Conference, which is held under the auspices of the Region of Crete, the Regional Union of Municipalities of Crete and the Municipality of Heraklion, as well as with the cooperation of the Center for European Policy and Regional Development of the University of Crete, will examine international trends regarding the promotion of policies of the circular economy as well as their implementation prospects at national and regional level. In particular, it aims to:
- Information on the course of implementation of the European Union's guidelines for approaching the goals that have been set.
- The highlighting of the opportunities that emerge from the change in the institutional and financial framework of the projects, the development and integration of innovations in solid waste management.
- The presentation of best practices through pilot programs and comprehensive planning at the regional level.
- The expanded discussion on the design of the required infrastructure, highlighting how Local Management Plans contribute to the achievement of Regional Planning objectives.
